GM Trying To Change Consumer Opinion with Transformers Sequel
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
As much as we love Transformers, I hope none of our US Federal bail out money was used for GM's hopeful maketing tool. The picture above is an 18 foot tall Bumblebee that will be used at the Chicago Auto Show. It looks like GM will debut 5 cars from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen today in Chicago. Freep.com featured an article today GM says they did not pay for product placement in the movie, rather they gave cars to the movie in exchange for the "free" advertising.
Supposedly, consumer opinion of the Camaro was significantly high after watching Transformers. The only Camaro I remember wanting to buy after watching the movie was one that was about 12 inches long, packaged in plastic, and made by Hasbro. I'd love to know how many cars GM "gave" to either movie!
