Hasbro Buys 50% of Discovery Kids

Hasbro has bought 50% of the Discovery Kids Network. The network will be renamed some time next year. Plans are in the works to develop television series based on Hasbro toiys. Jere Hester, who wrote an article breaking the news for NBC writes, "It’s hard to see any education value, though, in Transformers – unless it’s to teach children that objects can turn into huge mechanical monsters." Though I completely disagree with her, I am sad to see Discovery Kids lose so much of it's educational program. Mabey it's just me, but I see great education value in kids learning the mechanics of interchangable robots and believe playing with them does wonders for their small motor skills. Also, this seems as if this may be an attempt to one up Mattel.
