Enough Already with the Hasbro Marketing

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

In the mood for a Burger King's Kids Meal? Me neither. Right now, they're doing Star Trek toys. But have no doubt, Hasbro is about to take over. Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra toys are on their way!

Transformers For Your Mouth

Nothing sounds worse to me than the Strawberried Peanut Butter Transformers M&M's. Gross. I'll stick with the original one's in the Transformers packaging. Both will be available this June. Here is the official Press Release. Michael Bay will be featured in a print ad. (Who cares?)

Hasbro Buys 50% of Discovery Kids

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Hasbro has bought 50% of the Discovery Kids Network. The network will be renamed some time next year. Plans are in the works to develop television series based on Hasbro toiys. Jere Hester, who wrote an article breaking the news for NBC writes, "It’s hard to see any education value, though, in Transformers – unless it’s to teach children that objects can turn into huge mechanical monsters." Though I completely disagree with her, I am sad to see Discovery Kids lose so much of it's educational program. Mabey it's just me, but I see great education value in kids learning the mechanics of interchangable robots and believe playing with them does wonders for their small motor skills. Also, this seems as if this may be an attempt to one up Mattel.

This is why I only go to Hasbro for Transformers and GI Joe's

Monday, February 23, 2009

Go to Hasbro's web site much? This is why I only go for the Transformers and GI Joe's. Scrabble is way more "adult" than I ever remember!

Hasbro Banking on GI Joe and Transformers

Saturday, January 3, 2009

With the fall of KB and the decline of toy sales in general it is nice to see Hasbro come in on top with sustainable toy lines. Fortune Magazine has a nice article on the success of Hasbro in a declining market.
